The Next Bad Thing – The Standalone Mindmap

OK, by now I hope you started to use your mindmaps (a little bit more).

As you know, your mindmap will be serving as your personal or professional assistant. I prefer to view my mindmaps as my personal assistants, even when used in a business environment.

The reason for this view is simple: Most of my mindmap are showing my interpretation of a certain topic. It doesn’t matter if this is a personal, academic or business situation or topic. It is my personal view which is expressed via the map. Therefore, I consider most of my mindmaps as personal assistants.

OK, you have this mindmap which helps you. You ‘feed’ it with information. You manage the content.

BUT…

An assistant is only as valuable as the information you offer it. If you create mindmaps which tell you only things about one (small) topic, that mindmap will help you only with that.

An assistant is only as valuable as the information it has access to. What you should do is make your mindmaps, I mean all your mindmaps, part of your entire visual overview.

It is possible to do this in master mindmaps. For more information on that have a look at my Mastermind report which you receive when you join the Mindmaps Unleashed community – top right form on this page.

Still, I believe a master mindmap is not the most suitable tool for this. After all.. What would you then create? A mindmap called MY LIFE which has links to all areas of your life? Not practical and not effective. There are better ways for doing that.

The most important thing you should do this week on mind mapping (besides signing up for my Membership) is this:

Make sure your mindmaps are connected with and to each other

This interconnection enables you to create a real visual overview. In return, you will be better in creating knowledge from information and taking action from your overviews.

Just like with many things in life, you should start small. Don’t try to connect everything at once. You may feel discouraged if you don’t succeed in creating one overview (I know I started small…).

The next time you create a new mindmap, connect it to another or a few maps. Start to build your own network of maps.

Do this today!

Let your mindmaps work for you!
