A very interesting question from Brian Tracy: Do you know how often people try something new (on average)?
The answer: Less then once!!!
That’s right. People often don’t even try something new. Most people are saying they want to learn and have exciting jobs. We all want new experiences. But when it comes to it… people just want to keep things the way they are.
I wonder.

These last couple of months, I received many mindmaps from people. The interesting question I received from most people is how they could improve their mindmaps.
Usually, the mindmaps can be improved easily. You are talking about words and colors used, alignment of branches, images shown in the map… those kind of things.
Asking someone else to have a look at your own personal mindmap is often difficult. After all, we are talking about a personal piece of work. This is probably not something you want to share with others.

One of the most interesting things happens when people start to mindmap.
I tell my students to use more images when mapping their information. I let them know they need to make a nice picture of their notes. They learn to use different colors. And what happens next?
About 90% of them creates a map that shows words while using only one or two colors. Would you believe me that the first pen they usually use is blue?
Yes, habits are hard to break, even when you are doing it as conscious as possible

Eastern wisdom tells us that when we mindmap, we should mindmap. OK, I changed it a little bit to make it work for this article.

How is your mind mapping skill doing? Can you already use mindmaps to your advantage?
As you know, I am not someone who only likes to create a mindmap. This is like getting a glass of ice water on a warm sunny day… and then only looking at it and not drinking it.
You should not stop after you created the map. You should use, or even better, unleash the mindmap!
