Did you learn how to remember information?
Probably not. Why should you? We have computers, paper, voice recorders, etc. There just seems to be no good reason why you should remember things.
To my knowledge, more and more people are taught not to remember, but to find information. This is good… only, most people take this into the extreme and don’t remember the most basic things.
I’m baffled when I see people on television who can’t seem to answer questions like:
- What’s the capital of Germany;
- Where was the first atom bomb dropped;
- Who killed J.F. Kennedy (OK, thoughts differ on that last one
).
More and more we seem to forget that we have an amazing tool at our disposal, yet we know and understand less about it every generation.
