Pimp My Mindmap – 2 Questions

I train people in mind mapping and visual thinking for many years. I always advice my students to share their mindmaps with others. When you have other people review your maps, they will provide you with a lot of valuable feedback.

Most of the people who do regular offline training don’t bother about getting feedback. I have no idea why this is. My guess is that they either don’t use mind mapping that much anymore or they only create personal maps.

Either way, I believe they should share a map with a colleague or friend. It will help them increase their mapping skills.

During my online training courses, I make sure people know they should share maps with me. In fact… many people tell me that the feedback they receive helps them in becoming even more skilled mindmappers. Some even say the feedback was worth the investment in the training itself!

This isn’t that strange. The basics of mind mapping are something you can learn in a few minutes. Understanding the technique and knowing when and how to apply it is something completely different.

When I contact people after a few months and ask them how they are using mindmaps, I usually receive two distinct answers.

Some people tell me they are sometimes using it. They can probably use it more and better, only time doesn’t allow them to dive more into it… These are the people who don’t use the feedback option in the training. Usually, there is another reason why they don’t use mindmaps that much anymore. They can’t seem to use the mindmaps as good as they would like to!

Then there are people who accomplished a lot using mindmaps. As you probably guess, these are the people who requested additional feedback. They took action and went the extra mile in mind mapping ?.

I would like you to become a better mind (map) user. For this, I would like to ask you two questions today.

Here Are My Two Questions

1. Do you know of any (online) services where people help you improve your own personal/business mindmap?

Since I’ve helped so many people improve their mindmaps by giving tips and insights on how to change their mindmap for the better, I would like to hear from you on this.

If you like to have your mindmap reviewed, do let me know. I will reserve time to do this for a few people.

Don’t worry; your maps will not be made public (if you don’t want this). If you want to, I can show people the before and after images, but that’s up to you.

The only thing I like to receive from you is that you tell me what this did for you and your mindmap usage.

2. How valuable would this service be for you?

Don’t worry. You won’t have to pay for this if you are part of the ‘lucky few’. I only like to know from you how much more overview and improved clarity is worth to you.

Send me your mindmap today and I will send you some tips as soon as possible. Remember to include the answers to the two questions. Mindmaps submitted without answers to both questions will not be reviewed.

I look forward to seeing your maps and answers. Let’s make your maps work for you!

Arjen
P.S.: I can only do this for a few people. Please don’t be offended when your map is not reviewed. I do appreciate your thoughts.

You have a great idea to help people individually.

I advise companies on their strategic marketing plan, and show them how use a mind map to manage this process. I find that it’s best for me to guide several of their strategy meetings before they take over the process using the initial mind map.

So, I think people would benefit from having you “coach” then on mind mapping until they feel that they can use the process on their own.
