Online Mind Mapping – What Are Your Experiences And Needs?

The are many online tools to create mindmaps. More and more are created everyday. Lets discuss this hot topic today.

The most well-known tools nowadays are MindMeister and Mind42 (at least here in Europe).

How about where you live?

Which ones do you know?

In my opinion, the five most important features a tool should offer are:

  • It must be easy to create a mindmap
  • It is possible to export the mindmap to your offline tool (MindMapper, Mindmanager, etc)
  • The tool is stable and allows you to mindmap whenever and wherever you want
  • They offer a secure environment to stores your mindmaps
  • It is possible to collaborate with others on mindmaps (simultaneously, time-shifted & online)

About two years ago, I started to develop a tool that allowed me to do this online. My main reason was that I needed a tool which could create Summaps. I called it the SummApplication. Most of these features are already implemented.

The idea of the tool was born when I created the summapping system of visual mapping. Some normal (offline) tools could create a basic summap. Still… I needed more. And so I started to develop my own tool.

I met Paul Urban and we started to think more about online mind mapping solutions. We continued the development of the summap tool and implemented more mind mapping features.

Right now, we need your thoughts on what YOU WANT TO USE online. So please do share your thoughts in this short survey.

SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE MIND MAPPING TOOL

The tool will be used in the upcoming Mindmaps Unleashed training courses. What we will do is use the tool together with templates. These will allow you to quick start your Personal, Academic and Business development.

Templates are one of the biggest steps in creating and really using visual maps.

You don’t have to bother creating the maps. You only have to add your information and (if needed) optimize the outline/layout to your personal taste. After doing that, you print your map and start using it.

My three questions for you are (and you can add your thoughts in the comments field):

  1. What is the most important feature you need?
  2. What do you want to do with an (online) mind mapping tool?
  3. What topics/maps would you like to have templates for?

I look forward to reading your experiences and answers.

Based on your thoughts I will make sure that professional templates are created for you to use.
