5 Steps: How To Organize Up To Thousands Of Mindmaps Easily

The more mindmaps we create, the bigger the pile of mindmaps we have. I don’t know about you, but this is something which is a limiting factor for many people. They use a mindmap as a tool to have a better overview, and they end up having all these mindmaps which may even tell them less.

The same of course applies to note-taking, to-do lists, etc. When you create too many overviews, you lose track of your valuable information.

Fortunately there is a cure!

It works in every situation and you can start applying this right now. Here it is:

Organize Your Information

Yes, I know you probably think: ‘Of course Arjen, that is something which will help. Only… I did that and it didn’t work…’.

I guess you didn’t do it long enough and do it the right way then.

I firmly believe we can accomplish (almost) everything we can imagine. If it wasn’t for the thoughts and inventions of many people before us, we would still walk around naked…

The only thing many successful people do, which is different from what the average person does, is that she/he sticks to the plan and makes sure the goal is reached. The same applies to getting organized.

Right now, you will receive a simple yet effective 5 step approach to organizing your thoughts, dreams, notes, ideas and information using a Master Mindmap.

Master Mind Mapping

We spoke about this before. I already gave you the master mindmap report. So there is no need to repeat myself. You know all you need to know about master mindmaps.

Right now, I want to make sure you start to create your own master mindmap. Today we have a look at how you do this on your computer. Any mindmap tool can do this for you. It doesn’t matter if you are on a MAC or a Windows computer.

1. Create a new map called Master Mindmap

Store this map in a folder which you backup regularly. Call the map Master Map.

2. Name the center of the map Master Map.

Call the center Master Map. The name itself is not that important. Make sure you know it is your master map.

3. Add your information

Since I don’t know what information you have to add to the map, let me tell you what I included in my map.

  • Books I read
  • Books I write
  • Training courses (both online as well as of-line)
  • Marketing information
  • Associates (yes, once I work with, you become a map :) )
  • Sales information
  • Websites
  • Etc.

All these topics are separate topics in my Master Map. Once you filled the Master Map with your own information, we proceed to the next step.

4. Add links to new overview maps.

You hyperlink to a new map. This map could be the direct mindmap you have on that topic (for instance sales information). It could also be another mindmap overview (for instance the one on books). In my overview, I have for instance links there to the books I wrote. You can call this a mini Master Map.

You can also create hyperlinks to important other documents, email addresses, sheets, presentations, etc. You are in charge of your own map. You decide what you like to store.

5. Add content to the maps, when needed

Every day you start the day by opening your Master Map. You add new information to your mindmaps. Do this when you need to do this, not when you take time to do this (cause there is never time to do that :) ).

In steps 3 and 4 you created the foundation of a mindmap network which will work for you. Be sure that you keep it updated. You feed the Master Map with information, you receive overview and knowledge in return.

Don’t think you have to create an entire network of mindmaps immediately. Take your time. Rome wasn’t build in one day. You don’t have to create a network of the dozens or hundreds of maps you have now.

IMPORTANT: Not all your mindmaps should be added to the network. Remember that it is not the quantity of the network which determines the value, but the quality. You have to make sure you can ‘read’ and, more importantly, use your information.

If you have any questions on this topic, let me know.

Perhaps you did not yet download the Master Mind Mapping report. Do that by signing up at the top right of this page.

Enjoy your new skill!

Arjen

P.S.: Don’t delay, do this right now.
