A very interesting question from Brian Tracy: Do you know how often people try something new (on average)?
The answer: Less then once!!!
That’s right. People often don’t even try something new. Most people are saying they want to learn and have exciting jobs. We all want new experiences. But when it comes to it… people just want to keep things the way they are.
I wonder.
Are you using mindmaps already?
If not, why not? You probably know that mindmaps are a great tool for getting more overview in your life and information. So when you know this… why haven’t you started using it?
If you are already using mindmaps, do you continue to experiment with new/other methods of mapping your information?
As wonderful as mindmaps are, I believe they are only part of a wonderful range of tools we can use to get more clarity and understanding of who we are, what we do, why we do things and where we are going.
There is only one thing you have to do. TRY SOMETHING NEW!!!
Try it for at least 10 times. Try it the way you were taught, not the way you think it might work. This is important. Don’t try to personalize things before you understand their meaning.
I read in a book the following wise words:
Words can never convey the beauty of a tree; to understand it, you must see it with your own eyes.
Language cannot capture the melody of a song; to understand it, you must hear it with your own ears.
So it is with creating visual overviews: the only way to understand and enjoy them is to directly EXPERIENCE IT.
This last sentence is what I added.
The moral of the story: Continue to develop yourself. Yesterday and the day before yesterday you created maps that give you more insight in who you are. Use this knowledge.
And be sure you don’t just read about things. Don’t just read this blog. Use it as a starting point for using and above all experiencing visual thinking.
Understand this and move forward.

What you shared from Brian Tracy was very interesting to me. I can’t believe that most of us are so unadventurous!
I am a huge fan of doing new things … it’s the only way to get new results in life! I totally believe that few people actually try new things … most people find change difficult. But when we get into a habit of non-routine and experimentation, change becomes much easier.
I’m off to explore the rest of your site …
Blessings,
