That's great Catherine!

I believe your experiences and stories will help many people move forward in using mindmaps.

It is good that you took the time to have a look at how much time you are saving. I think for most of us who mindmap, it is getting more and more normal to save time!

We get spoiled with all that extra we get done in the same amount of time ;)

Oops, excuse the typos above. I'm using voice recognition to dictate this and should have read it more carefully before hitting submit.

I asked this same question many times during the years. I've been mind mapping since age 15 -- long time ago. In 1998 I began using Mindman (previous name to MindManager). Back then it was cumbersome compared to what can be done today with the software. Yet, it still saved tons of time.

When I tracked the time savings in the timeframe of 1997 through 2000, personally I saved a few hours or more a day. And each of my 44 employees during this period saved at least an hour a day. Do the math, it adds up. Not to mention the trees we saved.

Let's fast forward to 2009. Today, I can say my productivity has rised at least a few hours a day. I don't think that's quite saying I'm saving a few hours a day because now I'm able to get more done in the same amount of time.

Since one of my services is planning marketing campaigns for clients, I can complete the process with mind mapping in about an hour. Without the software, had to do two rush jobs while at the beach this summer when my laptop failed, it took me 8 hours. Savings of 7 hours. Not to mention my frustration level and stress. Had two more rush jobs after that, borrowed a computer at the hotel, begged Mindjet to allow me to download another version. Thank goodness I had my templates on an USB drive. Even with all this trama I still had 2 hours left over to enjoy the beach.

All this depends on how well you know now to mind map, how much you use it, what your beliefs about it are, what your responsibilities are, and more. Key ingredients I'm sure you will agree on that would provide the answer to the time saving question.
