How To Mindmap Yourself For Faster Growth

Most people are visual thinkers. They need to see something before they understand or believe it. This can be seeing something in real life or seeing it with your minds eye.

Unfortunately, what often happens is that people think they know what happens and move forward using their own perspective or feelings. Although this is something that helps us often, there are occasions in which we need a more conscious and objective overview.

This is where the mindmap steps in.

You have to understand one thing: for your mind, it doesn’t matter if you actually experience a situation or you imagine it, most of the time. Of course there is a difference between being in an accident or imagining this. Still, many people demonstrated their mind is so powerful that they can feel or experience what they imagine.

I believe we should use this knowledge more often in our lives. One of the most beneficial applications for this little piece of knowledge is the area of personal or business improvement.

You can only move towards your goal once you know what your goal is.

The moment you decide you have a dream and you want to make this a reality, you need to be as clear as possible about it. Your mindmap helps you in this. Let me explain you how, so you can use this today and move forward.

A Blueprint

Imagine you can get a blueprint of who you are or what your business is like. Would you like to have that?

This blueprint show you… you!

Looking at this overview, you look at yourself, but then from a distance. And this distance is what make this so extremely powerful. You can create a distance and look at yourself more objective. You are not dealing with facts that are creating feelings.

There are a number of different methods for creating this blueprint. Today I will show you one of them that will help you. I added a mindmap template that allows you to use this today and move forward.

Here’s What You Do Right Now

This one if very easy to do. You simply add who you are and what you are to the mindmap. No need to think that much. BE HONEST to yourself.

Remember, you are not creating this overview for another person. This is your overview and you create it for yourself! The only question I have for you right now is: Are you tough enough to create this overview and move forward using it?

Would you believe me that out of every 100 people who read this, only 1 or 2 will do this exercise? Most people say something like:

  • yep, know this already (but they didn’t apply it properly)
  • OK, don’t need this (because you are and have all you want already?)
  • this will not help me (and you know this because…)

When you do this exercise, you become part of an elite group that knows they have to work before they become successful. Taking targeted action helps them in moving forward. They achieve their goals.

Would you like to do that?

The moment you feel and understand you deserve this, you stop reading and do this exercise right now.

One small note: You might want to keep this mindmap private. After all, you added personal information. This is not something like a resume that you want to show to everyone.

How To Use This

The best way you can use this is as described below. It is something you can do right now.

What you do is you copy the mindmap you created to a new map. Then you add to this new overview the items you want to have, be or do in the future. Don’t think about adding dates, only think about what you want.

For instance. If your current weight is 90 kilograms and you want to weigh 80 kilograms, you change this is your map.

When you want to earn $ 20.000 more than you earn right now, you add the new total income to the future blueprint.

Do this for everything that you want to change.

At the end, you have your second blueprint that shows you your future self, the person you want to become.

Here You Go!

Now you have 2 blueprints of yourself. You have one of your current me and one of your future self. These are most likely not the same. Future YOU can have a different job, lifestyle, friends, etc. It is now up to you to use these two and figure out for yourself how you can move from one blueprint to the other.

Usually, this takes at least a number of tasks, jobs or even sub goals. You need to get your hands dirty :) .

I promise you that when your future self becomes a reality in real life (and not in your mind only), you will feel better. By then, it is time to move forward once again. After all, you will keep dreaming and longing for something more interesting.

Enjoy this exercise. I am sure you will be able to move forward in your life using mindmaps.
