How it all began…

“In the beginning there were thoughts and images and words. People put these on cave walls and on paper. This was done to help them solve problems and to preserve information (for themselves and others).

Then we ‘learned’ how to use words only. This were easier to learn and easier to share, so was said.

A man called Tony Buzan studied how successful people from the past and present dealt with their information. From this he created the mindmap system.

Nowadays, most people use mindmaps as a stand-alone system for dealing with information, thoughts and activities. Unfortunately, this is done by using the mindmap as an end goal.

MindmapsUnleashed has a mission: integrating mind mapping into your everyday life, by making it an effective tool.  There’s so much more possible than just creating mindmaps.” – taken from the MindmapsUnleashed Book of Visual Living

401-1Thanks a lot for visiting my website on how to really use mindmaps.

That’s right, another mindmap website/blog… except this one will be different. Sure, we will be discussing how to make mindmaps. But you know what, that’s just one of the many things we will do here.

The goal of this website is to let you experience what mindmaps can do for you in your life.

We will therefore look at mindmaps and how they can be USED in our everyday lives. This may be at work, but also at home or in your studies.

To put it in really simple words:

Together, we will investigate and learn how mindmaps can work for us.

A little bit about me and what I do.

My name is Arjen ter Hoeve. I’ve been training and mentoring people for about 8 years in the USAGE of mindmaps and Visual Thinking. During the many interesting sessions I had and have with people, I’ve seen that many people look at mindmaps as just a nice tool to use.

I’ve seen (and I firmly believe) that when you understand the role of mindmaps and visual maps and in the order of things you do, you will be so much more effective!

I quickly realised that the traditional mindmap is a good tool, yet there are many other tools you need to really take full advantage of your visual maps.

Here’s what I would like you to do:

Share with me how you use mindmaps. What do you notice when you look at the way you make use of mindmaps? Where do they fit in in your work/life?

You can share your thoughts and experiences via the link below:

SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS (opens in new window)

I really look forward to understanding more about your mindmap usage (or perhaps not-yet-optimal-usage).

Enjoy your day!

Arjen
